ENGLEWOOD, Fla. -- Charlotte County commissioners want to build a new sheriff's substation. But one neighborhood claims it's anything but a good idea.
The station would sit on county-owned land in Englewood at the intersection of Wilmington and Sunnybrook boulevards.
The county says the existing structure at a current substation is "neither inviting nor adequate." So they're looking at this plot for a new facility.
But not everyone is on board. "It's going to directly impact the property values in this surrounding area. This is a residential neighborhood. Its not commercial," says concerned citizen Ed Zubal.
Zubal says he intends to present his petition at the next county commission meeting to convince the board to choose an alternative site.
