Baseball season is back in Southwest Florida.
The Boston Red Sox opened up their spring training slate with a 9 to 6 win over Northeastern University at JetBlue Park.
Thousands of baseball fans filled up the park. Many of them came all the way from New England.
"It was time to come down and see a nice game without the traffic going on in and out of Boston. Plus, you got beautiful weather. You can't beat it," said Chris Radzik, from Melrose, Massachusetts.
Radzik treating his sons to a game while they are vacationing in Southwest Florida, but they weren't the only ones who made the trip to the Sunshine State for some Grapefruit League action.
"We love it here, we come down every year for vacation it's opening day," said one father as he held up his two young children.
Opening day and spring training is a time for optimism and Red Sox fans have high hopes for the new season.
"I think they can go all the way this year," said Ryan Radzik.
The Red Sox will be back in action Friday when they host the New York Mets. First pitch is at 1:05pm.
