CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- Is red tide coming back? Signs of it are showing up in Southwest Florida.

Recent maps from Florida Fish and Wildlife show mostly “not present” readings across the state.

However, “very low” concentrations of red tide have been detected at Boca Grande Pier in Gasparilla Sound.

One spot of similar levels was also detected at New Pass in Sarasota.

We’ll continue to monitor these conditions to see if levels increase.
