LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Caught on camera: a popular eagle on the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam was attacked by a great horned owl Wednesday night.
The owl struck Harriet from behind while she was sleeping, knocking her from the branch.
The video is courtesy of Dick Pritchett Real Estate, which operates the cams, and YouTube channel "Lady Hawk."
The attack startled her partner, M-15.
Hopefully Harriet is okay.
The cameras at the North Fort Myers nest were just turned on this week for the new nesting season. Bald eagles typically lay eggs between December and early January.
