Grab your rod and reel. Snook season starts next month.

Recreational harvest season in Florida starts on September 1st, but not in Southwest Florida.

Snook fishing will remain catch and release only in state waters from the Pasco-Hernando county line south to Gordon Pass in Collier County. These waters are closed harvest due to impacts from last year's red tide.

A snook permit and a recreational saltwater license are required to harvest snook.
