LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Sea turtle nesting season is happening now on area beaches, and there are a few things Florida Fish and Wildlife want you to keep in mind.

It's illegal to harm or disturb a nesting sea turtle, their eggs, or their nest. So don't touch them.

Turn off all lights at night. Babies crawl toward the light on the horizon to get into the Gulf, but if you have lights on the beach they crawl toward those and die from dehydration.

Finally, remove anything blocking nesting mothers and their new hatchlings' paths.
