HENDRY COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Fish and Wildlife is now reporting the first panther death of the month.

It happened on state road 80 in Glades County near the Hendry County line.

FWC says a two-year-old female panther was found dead likely from being hit by a car.

But there is some good news when it comes to the Southwest Florida panther population a new litter of kittens was discovered last month.

FWC says the 2-kitten litter was found in the Immokalee Ranch area.

So far three litters have been discovered this year.
