NAPLES, Fla.-- First Lady DeSantis plans to attend a red fish release at Capri Paddlecraft Park in Naples Friday at 11 a.m.

Other organizations will also attend including along with Florida Fish and Wildlife, Duke Energy, and Coastal Conservation Association Florida.

They plan to release 2,000 juvenile and 30 adult red fish.

The release is part of a larger project to help get the fish population back to where it was before red tide impacted waterways.

There are multiple projects in the works that will help the area after it saw devastating effects from red tide.

A final contract for the West Basin Storage Reservoir was finalized Thursday.

This is a long term project that would help reduce the discharges from Lake Okeechobee ultimately revitalizing the habitat for marine life.

The facility is located just west of LaBelle in Hendry County.

The entire project is expected to be completed by 2022.
