GLADES COUNTY, Fla. -- A central Florida contractor will replace the last water culvert at the Herbert Hoover dike.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded the contract to Kiewit Infrastructure out of Orlando for $23.5 million.
The replacement project in Glades County is part of the ongoing rehabilitation project around Lake Okeechobee.
The water control structure will allow for more drainage and reduce flooding in the area.
Over $500 million has been spent on fixing the dike since 2011. The Army Corps should finish by 2022.
