SANIBEL, Fla. — Protecting our own slice of paradise means learning more about wildlife in Southwest Florida.

That's part of the mission over at CROW, the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, in Sanibel.

People can now explore the local efforts of wildlife rehabilitation at their visitor education center.

CROW reopened the center last month under new safety guidelines during the coronavirus.

They say their hospital is seeing an uptick in patients from last year.

They're currently in the process of rehabilitating a 200-pound loggerhead sea turtle.

CROW is the only licensed sea turtle rehabilitator between Sarasota and the Keys.

They recently received a $10,000 grant from a state program funded by specialty license plates.
