NAPLES, Fla. — The City of Naples is noticing algae blooms along the coast.

There is currently a Trichodesmium or blue-green algae bloom along the coast from Bonita Beach to Gordon Pass.

Some strains of blue-green algae do produce toxins, but researchers have not documented any negative effects of blue-green algae on marine life or people in Florida.
