FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Early Monday morning, at approximately 02:37AM, police responded to the sound of gunshots near Stella street and Ford street. At the scene, police found a car that had veered off the road and ended up deep in some bushes. The driver, Porsha Jones, was found outside her vehicle bleeding from an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
A resident living nearby, Ronald Depeppo, said "At 02:33am I was already up because I went to bed early and I heard what seemed like firecrackers." Depeppo just recently moved into the area. "Right after the firecrackers, I heard the car swerve over and hit because it must have lost control."
