St. Petersburg police arrested a woman after she shot her ex-boyfriend in the groin while police were on scene. Police say she made several "spontaneous statements" that she shot him in the penis.
The shooting happened at 943 17th Ave. South.
Police said Kelly Dufrene called them to remove her ex-boyfriend from her home, and said he was violating a restraining order. At some point while police were still on scene, she went inside and shot Timothy Crowley. He was shot in the groin area, according to Major Michael Kovacsev.
Police heard the single shot and watched as Dufrene ran out of the home, then into the woods.
Police confirmed a domestic violence restraining order was issued against Crowley for previous issues. He is stable at Bayfront medical hospital.
Dufrene is charged with felony attempted murder. Police said they recovered a small caliber handgun inside the home.
