A controversial hotel project has been put on hold for now in Marco Island.
Newly elected councilwoman Charlette Roman, a former member of the planning commission says the project has been postponed indefinitely.
Developers wanted to build a 70 room hotel and parking garage at Elkham Circle next to Veterans Park.
"It becomes a horror when your taxes go up, you are backed up in traffic, when the government is only responsive to big corporations," said Cheryl Lee, who spoke out against the project at a city council meeting Monday.
Critics say the planning commission did not adequately advertise a meeting in August where the project was discussed, a claim the developer denied.
