LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A 22-year-old woman is dead after being hit by a vehicle that was in the process of making a pass in Lehigh Acres Tuesday night.
It happened a little after 10 PM on Columbus Boulevard South, just south of Ebb Street East.
Florida Highway Patrol says Siomara Matias of Reading, PA was walking north in the southbound lane of Columbus Boulevard when a northbound minivan driven by 76-year-old Anivain Desprez attempted to pass a slower vehicle.
Desprez pulled into the southbound lane to pass and struck Matias from behind. Matias was pronounced dead at the scene.
Right now no charges have been filed.
