COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- A deadly April for Florida panthers has extended into May.
Wildlife officials say a 2-3 year old male panther was found dead from a vehicle collision Tuesday morning. The cat was found on State Road 29, about a quarter mile north of Tamiami Trail.
This death is the 21st death of the year for the endangered Florida panther. Nine of those deaths happened in the month of April alone.
