COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - Strong storms roared through Collier County early Tuesday morning, ripping up several roofs and destroying a carport. The damage occurred in the Enchanting Shores community between Naples and Marco Island.
The ruined carport and most of the roof damage happened to homes on Amethyst Avenue in Enchanting Shores, where many of the residents are seasonal. Some who came by Amethyst to check out the damage told Fox 4 that they couldn't believe all the severe weather hitting Southwest Florida in recent weeks.
"This was a totally different experience," said New Jersey native Karen Sowers, who spends her winters at Enchanting Shores. "We're very thankful nobody got hurt."
