FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Police are investigating a shooting that left one person injured after a car was shot at Monday afternoon.
The incident happened shortly before 2pm. Police were flagged down by two people in a car in the area of Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard and Palm Avenue. They told a detective that their car had been shot at in the area of Wright Street and Thomas Street.
The passenger in the car was hit by the gunfire and sustained non-life threatening injuries. They were taken to Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The suspect's vehicle is described as a white older-model SUV with rust; possibly a Lincoln.
Royal Palm Exceptional School, just a few blocks away from the scene, was been placed on lockdown as a precaution. The lockdown has been lifted.
