Republicans retain Congressional districts in Southwest Florida

Florida's 17th Congressional District: April Freeman-Allen Ellison (D) and Greg Steube (R)

**UPDATE (7:55pm)** -- Republican Greg Steube wins open US House seat in Florida; district includes Sebring, Okeechobee, southwest Gulf coast.

Allen Ellison, a policy expert from Sebring, Florida, is running against Sen. Greg Steube, R-23, to replace Rep. Thomas Rooney (R-17) for the House seat representing Florida's 17th Congressional District.

Ellison replaced April Freeman as the Democratic nominee after Freeman passed away unexpectedly on September 23, 2018. 

Florida's 17th Congressional District includes all or parts of Charlotte, DeSoto, Glades, Hardee, Highlands, Lee, Okeechobee, Polk and Sarasota counties.

Florida's 19th Congressional District: David Holden (D) and Francis Rooney (R)

**UPDATE (7:59pm)** -- Republican US Rep. Francis Rooney wins second term in Florida district including cities of Naples and Cape Coral

Incumbent Francis Rooney (R-19) is facing David Holden for the House seat representing Florida's 19th Congressional District. Rooney has held the seat since January 2017. 

This area includes most of Lee County and parts of Collier County.

Florida's 25th Congressional District: Mario Diaz-Balart (R) and Mary Barzee Flores (D)

**UPDATE (8:16pm)** -- GOP Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart wins re-election to ninth House term in Florida, denying Democrats' hopes for additional seat.

Incumbent Mario Diaz-Balart (R-25) is running against Mary Barzee Flores, a former Eleventh Circuit Court Judge, for the House seat representing Florida's 25th Congressional District.

Diaz-Balart has held the seat since January 2013.
