NAPLES, Fla. -- The Naples Pier remains temporarily closed due to potential weather hazards that remain.
City officials say strong winds could pose a danger to visitors, so they've closed the popular destination as a precaution.
Officials say the pier will reopen once winds have settled down and are no longer posing a threat to visitors.
But the winds that potentially threaten the tourists also provide good surf. That's why a number of students flocked to the pier Tuesday on the last day of school. A large group of teens gathered next to the pier to surf and play in the waves to kick off summer break.
