COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- One man is dead and another was seriously injured after their vehicles collided in eastern Collier County Wednesday night.
It happened just before 10pm on Tamiami Trail approximately two miles east of County Road 92/San Marco Road, about four miles west of Port of the Islands.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 32-year-old Naples man was driving a car eastbound on Tamiami Trail and drifted into the westbound lanes, where it crashed head on with an SUV.
The car's driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released.
The SUV's driver, 45-year-old John Reed of Naples, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Physician's Regional Hospital for treatment.
