LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A Fort Myers man was critically injured during a collision on Interstate 75 Thursday morning, triggering a heavy morning rush traffic jam.
It happened at 6:45am in the southbound lanes at the Daniels Parkway on ramp.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a motorcycle driven by 37-year-old Jason Redburn was in the right southbound travel lane when troopers say he changed lanes into the path of a pickup truck on the entrance ramp. The two vehicles collided.
Redburn, who was wearing a helmet, suffered critical injuries and was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the truck was uninjured.
The scene forced the closure of one lane of the interstate during the investigation, causing traffic backups that were compounded by an unrelated truck rollover several miles north.
