FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A motorcyclist was seriously injured Friday in a collision on U.S. 41 just south of Alico Road.
FHP was dispatched to the site at 9:23 AM, and learned that a motorcyclist, identified as 34-year-old Charles Wheatley of Fort Myers, was riding north on U.S. 41 when a northbound car in the next lane veered into his lane.
Wheatley's motorcycle hit the rear of the car and he was thrown onto the pavement.
He was taken to Lee Memorial in serious condition. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver of the car, a 19-year-old Lehigh Acres woman, was cited for improper lane change and no proof of insurance.
