MARCO ISLAND, Fla. -- The City of Marco Island is warning residents of the possibility of foul odors coming from a utility facility next week.
The city says construction of new infrastructure at the city’s Reclaimed Water Production Facility on E. Elkcam Circle is nearing completion. The new facilities will initially be placed into service on Tuesday, February 28th, and from then until the first week of April, there may be additional odors coming from the facility.
The city says these additional odors during this period are normal and unavoidable as the new biological odor control unit comes online. Any potential odors dissipate rapidly and pose no health concerns.
The city will be monitoring the odor levels and appreciates the understanding of residents.
