A Tennessee man is charged with grand theft after posing as a valet car attendant in Marco Island.
Marco Island Police arrested John Maxwell of Nashville, at the Ocean Beach Resort Tuesday. Police say the victims, a woman and a man paid Maxwell to park their car. Maxwell accepted a $5.00 tip from the victims.
The couple realized something was wrong when another valet told them she was the only person working that day.
According to police, Maxwell drove off with the car and returned a short time later. He was arrested and later released.
According to the police report, Maxwell told officers he was drunk at the time of the incident, however he didn't fail a police sobriety test.
Calls to Maxwell and the Ocean Beach Resort were not returned.
