FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A Fort Myers man is behind bars after police say he fired several gunshots at a taxi driver early Monday morning.

According to Fort Myers Police, 27-year-old Dongrell Wilson has been arrested and charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, Robbery with a Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon.

The arrest comes after an altercation just after 2 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Carrell Road and Broadway Avenue.

Police say Wilson approached the taxi and requested a ride to Maravilla Lane.  The driver told Wilson that he was on his way to pick someone else up and could not provide a ride to Wilson.  That's when Wilson became upset and pulled out a gun, holding it to the driver's head and demanding money.

The driver sped off and Wilson fired five shots, hitting the taxi twice.  The driver was not injured.

Wilson was quickly located on Maravilla Lane and taken into custody.
