CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Three thieves are at large after stealing a car in Cape Coral earlier this week, and then ditching it in Fort Myers.
The theft happened on Southwest 25th Terrace, near Santa Barbara Boulevard and Veteran's Memorial Parkway. Saturday night, the car's owner tells Four in Your Corner her car was found. However, she still feels uneasy seeing seemingly young thieves stealing her car on her front neighbor's surveillance video. "I was in complete shock, but at that point, I realized I left my keys in my car," said Deborah Shollar.
Shollar left the keys in her car while rushing into her house because of an emergency, and never went back out to get them out of her center console.
The 2 A.M. surveillance video shows a young man calmly entering Shollar's car and then calling his friend over. They then got in the car and drive away. Shollar believes they picked up a third accomplice on the corner.
The thieves covered their faces with rags when in front of the camera, except for one brief moment when one of the thieves stepped into the frame. Shollar believes they can't be more than teens. "It's a scary thought that they're bored, and I know that's what it is. They're bored, it's summer, they have nothing to do and they're running around trying to find something to do."
Detective's found Shollars car in Fort Myers, with all windows open and the keys still inside.
