Thousands celebrate Independence Day in Naples

An estimated 20,000 people lined the beaches near the Naples Pier Tuesday for the city’s annual fireworks show.

Many spent most of the day camped out along the beach, even though it rained late in the afternoon.

The show was delayed by 20 minutes because the barge carrying the fireworks arrived late.  But that didn't bother many of the people who had been waiting all day.

"Since the day I moved to this country everything was different, and celebrating this United States independence, it’s just amazing,” said  Orleans Machin, who moved to the United States from Cuba a few years ago.

Naples officials say they will have crews out cleaning the beach beginning at 6:00 am Wednesday.
