CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A teen is recovering after being severely beaten by a group of boys while at a house party in Cape Coral over the weekend.

Nineteen-year-old Tanner Mounce's jaw is wired shut after it was broken in two place. His family told Fox 4 he was beaten so badly, he drove home holding his detached jaw up with his hand.

The party happened on the 2500th Block of Northwest 20th Terrace. When officers arrived, they saw minors drinking. An incident report reveals a fight broke out in the vacant lot next door.

Witnesses say a group of teens mistakenly blamed Mounce for punching another teen, then attacked. His friend rushed to his aide. "As soon as I saw him get hit, I just ran over there," his friend said. "No one deserves anything like this and I feel like it was just senseless."

After struggling, Mounce was able to get away and drive home. He was later hospitalized.

The group responsible for the beating have not been apprehended. They are described as four black males. The person who threw the party was cited for a misdemeanor.
