LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. -- A Lee County teacher, convicted in April for kissing a female student, has just been suspended by the state.

Jonathan Blikstad, a teacher at East Lee County High, was sentenced to 12 months of legal probation and 50 hours of community service.

According to an investigation by the Lee County School district, the incident occurred in February 2016, when Blikstad confessed to kissing the student on the neck.  He initially was suspended three days for the incident.

This week, the State Education Practices Commission suspended his educator's certificate for six months.

He must also pay a $750 fine. And he must serve two years of workplace probation.
