SANIBEL, Fla. -- Due to a roof leak into the electrical systems room and an accompanying chemical odor, the Sanibel Recreation Center is closed until further notice.
The After-school Program has been canceled, and the Sanibel School is notifying parents directly using the "Parentlink" system.
Friday night's youth recreation basketball league is also canceled.
Staff and repair personnel are on-site. The City does NOT anticipate reopening the Recreation Center Friday.
Monitor the City's website for further updates and reopening date and time, which will occur as soon as the building is safe for occupancy.
