Just weeks after bailing out of floods, residents in Bonita Springs were at it again Friday, days after Hurricane Irma swept through.

"It smells like sewage, and my whole being feels like sewage, my mouth tastes like sewage," said Dave Kellum, who lives at the corner of Dean and East Terry Street.

The flooding also left a bad taste in Veronica Lee's mouth.  She lives on the other side of I-75 in the Morton Grove community, where a lake overflowed it's banks.

"It's very scary to take your vehicle out if you have a low car, I think you would probably be trapped in your house," said Lee.

The water is 16 inches deep in some places and is attracting schools of fish and gators.

"I'm sure there is probably water moccasins, I don't mind alligators, but water moccasins I'm not a big fan of," said Kellum.

Kellum says he's begged for crews to haul away rotting trash, he also wants help unclogging drainage ditches.

"They need to  get some boats out there and bust up the damn and get the flow going."

A spokesperson with the fire district says they are working with city officials on unclogging drainage ditches, but responses have been slowed by post Irma calls.
