Florida's own grocery chain has earned a top ranking in a customer satisfaction survey by a respected consumer experience company. Lakeland-based Publix tied with the Wegman's chain as America's favorite grocery store.
According to Market Force, 12,700 participants took surveys detailing several attributes of recent experiences at a number of national grocery chains.
Publix and Wegman's ended up ties at the top, with a 77% score.
Wal-mart came in last, with a 31% score.
Among the attributes included in the survey, Publix scored higher than all other chains for fast checkouts, availability of items, ease of finding items, and store cleanliness. They scored #2 in cashier courtesy and specialty department service.
Customers seem happy to pay for those services though, as Publix did not rank in the top 15 in the 'value for money' category.
