LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Nearly one year after a 9-year-old San Carlos Park girl went missing, private organizations will resume searching for the girl near her residence.
According to family representatives, the mother of Diana Alvarez has been in contact with the non-profit Peace River K9 Search and the Florida Sonar Search Team in hopes of finding the girl, who went missing from her home on May 29, 2016.
An Amber Alert was eventually issued for Diana, who was last seen in her San Carlos Park home.
The primary suspect in the case, Jorge Guerrero, was never charged in her disappearance, but was found guilty on child pornography charges earlier this month. Court documents revealed that explicit sexual images of Diana were found on his phone.
According to family attorney Tom Busatta, this new search for Diana will begin on May 30th, and will focus on the area of her residence. The search will then focus on the documented route that Guerrero took after fleeing the county after Diana's disappearance.
