FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Fort Myers Police confirmed two people have been found dead in a Gulfstream Isles apartment, Monday.

SWAT team members made entry into the apartment involved in the shots fired reports to find two deceased people. "We did go ahead and force entry into the unit and found two adult men deceased," said Captain Jay Rodriguez.

The scene has been cleared by police, and residents have been let back into their apartments.

One resident described commotion before shots were fired. "This morning, she told me about 8:30, she went onto the lanai because she heard somebody screaming," said one woman about her parents living in the building. "That could've happened right underneath them, right above them, like where are these bullets going? I was so scared for them."

Management at the apartment sent the following message to residents:

"Dear residents,

There has been a reported disturbance at or around building 1761. Ft. Myers police is on site and handling the situation. Please stay away from the vicinity of building 1761 while the police are completing their investigation. - Team Gulfstream Isles"

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Police are on the scene of a shots fired and possible barricaded suspect situation at a Fort Myers apartment complex.

According to Fort Myers Police, it's taking place at the Gulfsteam Isles apartments off Summerlin Road near Boy Scout Drive.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area until the scene clears.
