Pepper McDougal got a phone call from someone claiming to be from Dell tech support on Tuesday, which was a scam to get her personal information.
McDougal has called Dell before to report other issues she's had in the past, and they also knew some personal information, so she was not suspicious at first.
She says the people on the phone fed her fear saying there were alarming issues with her computer.
She said they told her, "We can really help you out. Your computer is really slow. It's very shocking what's on here, madam."
They said they wanted to help her by giving her a long term solution to her problem. Then they told her they couldn't take her credit card information as payment, but she could use Dell gift cards.
That's when McDougal said knew something wasn't quite right.
Cape Coral police say these hackers come from all around the world and are after your money.
These scammers use business like computer companies to convince you to open up your personal information.
Cape Coral police also say to make sure your computers are updated with the latest firewall and virus scanners to keep these scammers from getting any information.
