LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. -- Lee County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested Roy Moore, 54, in a May 29 crash that left one woman dead. Deputies say he had a blood alcohol concentration of .201.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Moore drove through a stop sign at the intersection of State Road 82 and Sunshine Boulevard, colliding head on with a car legally crossing the intersection.

A witness told deputies that when Moore hit the other car, he was ejected through the driver's window. Betty Long, the driver or the other car, and Moore were taken to the Lee Memorial Hospital, where Moore was taken to the trauma center.

Deputies noted a strong smell of alcohol in Allen's car. They say by the time they arrived at the hospital Long had passed away from severe internal injuries from blunt force trauma. Moore was treated for a head injury.

When deputies interviewed Moore in the hospital, they again noted a smell of alcohol on and around Moore. Doctors told deputies that a blood draw showed a blood alcohol concentration of .201. A lab tested Moore's blood as well, finding a blood alcohol concentration of .176.

Deputies found Moore on October 3, and after a brief interview, arrested him. In that interview, Moore told deputies he did not remember the crash, but had not been drinking that night.
