Investigators looking for 7-year-old Port Charlotte boy; reported to be in custody of mother

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a missing boy that may be part of a custody dispute.  7-year-old boy Alyssah Lauritse was last seen on Lake View Street in Port Charlotte at approximately 8:00 am Friday morning.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, Alyssah is reportedly in the custody of his biological mother, 31-year-old April Rose Shoppel, last known to be residing in Texas.

Shoppel may be operating a Lexus SUV color silver with unknown Texas registration plates. Last direction of travel is unknown.

CCSO lists the boy as 'missing' and would like to locate him so they can check his well-being.
