Naples police say a man walked into NCH in downtown Friday posing as a physician assistant.

The suspect made it to the 5th floor of the hospital, asked about a patient and tried to access a computer normally reserved for doctors.

"Most hospitals, you can no longer -- even as a visitor -- can't really walk in.  It's difficult to get in.  Unfortunately you can always follow somebody in," said Donald Beilein, who works at another Southwest Florida hospital.

Investigators aren't sure how the suspect got into the hospital.  He left after being asked where his badge was and never returned.

Beilein says he tested the security at his own hospital by removing his badge.

"I was able to walk up on the floor, on an off shift, in the middle of the night and I was able to walk through the floors and no one bothered to ask me who I was or what I was doing there."

He says security has improved for the most part at hospitals, but it is still possible for people to slip through the cracks.
