Shoppers went to the Miromar Outlets on Saturday to shop and have a good time. When they came back to their cars they found the items they had just bought were gone.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office reported five car robberies at the shopping center in all, over the weekend.
Fox 4 spoke with a few shoppers today who were surprised to hear something like that happened. "It's weird because I've never heard about any of that stuff going on here", one shopper told Four in Your Corner.
Another shopper, Kadin Kelly, noted that the area where the shopping center is located is a nice one and that a string of car robberies isn;t something he would expect to see there. "It's not like we're in the hood, you know?"
Five cars were targeted over the weekend, and Lee County Sheriff's deputies say hundreds of dollars in property were stolen from cars. Newly-purchased merchandise from stores like Saks Fifth Avenue and Chico's, cash and electronics were among the items stolen.
All of the victims say they were out eating and shopping when the thefts took place. Two of the victims say the lock on their car was damaged.
Shoppers Fox 4 spoke with aren't worried about the robberies, but promise to be vigilant.
