LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Investigators are asking for the public’s help identifying an armed duo who held up a Lehigh Acres Subway restaurant at gunpoint early Thursday evening.

According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, just before 6 p.m., two masked black males ran into the Subway on Lee Boulevard at Gunnery Road, demanding cash while displaying firearms.

One suspect ran towards the back of the business, carrying a small silver handgun, while the second suspect jumped over the counter, pointing a black handgun at the cashier.  While holding the employee at gunpoint, the men loudly demanded all the cash from the store’s register.  In fear for her life, and those of customers inside the business, the cashier complied, and then men quickly left.

The first suspect is described as a black male, between 20 and 30 years of age, tall with a thin to average build, and long dreads with one possibly dyed blonde.  He was wearing a black shirt which he used to cover his face and nose, as well as a wide brimmed hat.

The second suspect is also a black male, between 20 and 30 years old, tall, possibly with dread styled hair, wearing a Halloween skeleton face mask and carrying a silver handgun.

“This was clearly a very bold and brazen robbery,” said Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers Coordinator.  “They committed this violent act during a busy time of day and on a major roadway which was heavily travelled at that time.  We are hoping to hear from anyone who was in the area around that time who may have seen something suspicious, or who came across any information or conversations about the men involved.”

Anyone with information on the identities and whereabouts of the two suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.southwestfloridacrimestoppers.com or by submitting a tip on the P3Tips mobile app.
