LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Investigators are asking for the public’s help identifying a woman accused of stealing more than $1,000 in meat from a Lee County Winn Dixie store this month.
According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, the first of the thefts occurred just after 7 p.m. on May 3rd at the Winn Dixie store on Palm Beach Boulevard in the Olga community.
Surveillance cameras captured images of the dark haired white female walking into the store carrying a large black bag. After loading up a grocery cart filled with 10-14 packages of meat, valued at approximately $60 each, she managed to slip the items into the bag and walk out of the store seemingly unnoticed.
This happened three more times at the same store. Each time, she’d enter the store in the early evening hours, fill up a cart with meat, then transfer the packages to her purse, passing all points of sale.
Witnesses have seen her walking to a nearby bus stop on the west side of the store, where she waited for a driver in an unknown vehicle to pick her up.
The suspect is between 5’9” and 6’0”, thin, with dark tattoos on her upper arms and back.
Anyone with information on the identity and whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
