Man steals American flag from neighborhood entrance

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is looking for the person responsible for stealing an American flag from a Lee County neighborhood entrance.

They say it happened around 1:41 a.m. early Tuesday morning at the Kelly Greens neighborhood located on Kelly Greens Boulevard.

They say a man used a knife attached to a stick to cut the rope that held the 18 foot by 12 foot American flag to the pole. 

In under 15 minutes, he took down the flag and fled the area.

Crime Stoppers says a short time later, surveillance video showed the man returning with a flashlight, as if he was looking for something.
