Man stabbed several times at Fort Myers apartment complex

UPDATE -- It started has an argument between roommates and ended in a violent stabbing. The victim of the stabbing called the police around 7 a.m. Monday morning at the Lexington Palms Apartment complex in Fort Myers.

After filing a search warrant for the apartment on Omni Lane, two cop cars were stationed behind and in front of the apartment building waiting on the suspect to return after he fled the complex after the stabbing.

Neighbors say they were shocked when they heard the news, considering the neighborhood has always been a safe community.

 “I have never seen a police car inside. That was the first time," said Lesly Constance, who lives two buildings down from the scene.

Since the crime was between co-workers and the perpetrator is known, the Fort Myers Police Department tells Fox 4 there is no concern for public safety.

However, other neighbors are rethinking there living situation.

"It’s pretty safe here. Sometimes we even leave the door unlocked," said Chris and Kirysten, parents of a 10-month old baby.

“We were concerned. I was like okay what the heck happened?"

Officers on the scene say the victims injuries were not life-threatening. The suspect has not yet been found.

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A victim is recovering from several stab wounds Monday morning after an incident at a Fort Myers apartment complex.

According to Fort Myers Police, police responded to Lexington Apartments off Martin Luther King Boulevard around 7:15 AM Monday.

They arrived to find a victim with multiple non-life threatening stab wounds.

The suspect fled the scene.

Police say the public is not in danger.
