FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A restaurant is reopen, Sunday, after a shooting in the parking lot left one man injured.
The incident happened shortly after 10:00 P.M. Saturday, at Osaka Japanese Steakhouse on San Carlos Boulevard close to Fort Myers Beach.
Surveillance video at the restaurant showed a man and woman walking into the restaurants parking lot, and then running back inside. The man then limped into the dining room, warning patrons that he was shot and to get on the ground.
Emergency responders and crime scene investigators arrived on scene quickly, after staff called 911. The victim was rushed to the hospital. One employee described the scene to Fox 4. "It was surreal. We just wanted to make sure everyone was safe, lock the doors, and call 911," he said.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office said the man suffered minor injuries in the following statement:
"On May 6, 2017, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Deputies responded to a call for service at 16078 San Carlos Boulevard, which is located in the south Fort Myers area. During the preliminary investigation, Deputies discovered that one person suffered non-life threatening injuries. Due to the nature of the incident, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded and assumed the investigation. This incident appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community."
