FORT MYERS, Fla-- A man traveling from Boston to Fort Myers on JetBlue Airlines was arrested Tuesday after the flight crew said he was belligerent. He was charged with assault, disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest and was booked into the Lee County jail.

Scott Merchant was flying with his mom to a family funeral. According to the police report a flight attendant gave Merchant 2 mini bottles of Jack Daniels as requested. Then within 10 minutes of drinking them as shots, he requested two more bottles.

However when Merchant asked for even more a little while later, the flight attendant said she refused to serve him. Merchant responded by saying,

"This is (beep, beep), I need two Jack Daniels to go to sleep because my niece and nephew died yesterday."

The police report states he refused to sit down and was enraged. He then turned to other passengers and yelled, "This is (beep), tackle me, videotape me I dare you, I watch news."

Police said when they met Merchant after landing he was not cooperating and when told he shouldn't drive because he was drunk he responded,

"I don't (beep) care, I am going to drive." Police said they arrested Merchant, and "while in the back of the patrol car he was banging his head against the cage and blowing his nose and spitting all over the back seat."

Merchant is the uncle of the two toddlers that drowned in a Cape Coral pool earlier this week.
