Lehigh Acres man arrested for construction site theft

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. -- The Lee County Sheriff's Office has identified the man arrested Thursday at a Lehigh Acres home with stolen property inside.

42-year-old Amaury Fernandez has been charged with burglary to a structure, trespass to a construction site and theft under $300.

Fernandez was taken into custody Thursday morning at his home on Ground Dove Circle, where investigators were seen removing numerous appliances.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, detectives witnessed Fernandez drive onto a construction site on Sardinia Way in Fort Myers and load his truck with approximately fifty 2x4's.  Detectives followed him home and questioned him before arresting him.

He is also a suspect in previous thefts from the same Sardinia Way neighborhood, as well as construction site thefts in the Lindsford Community on Ashentree Court.
