CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A current Lee County commissioner was charged with DUI Tuesday evening after police say he displayed signs of impairment following a crash.

District 1 Commissioner John Manning is facing one charge of DUI with property damage.

According to Cape Coral Police, Manning was at fault for a two-vehicle crash shortly after 7 PM Tuesday at the intersection of Cape Coral Parkway and Pelican Boulevard.

Responding officers noted that Manning displayed bloodshot eyes, dilated pupils, slow responses, and a strong odor of alcohol.  He later took a breathalyzer test with two readings of .105 BAC, just over the .08 legal limit.

He reportedly admitted to officers that "I had one glass of wine.  Usually I have three, but I had one."

But later he said he may have had two glasses of white wine, but did not finish the 2nd one.
