NORTH PORT, Fla. -- One person was killed following a crash on Interstate 75 Saturday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
It happened at approximately 8:51 p.m.
Troopers say a 2003 Pontiac was traveling northbound in the area of mile marker 175, between the Kings Highway and Toledo Blade Boulevard exits, when it traveled off the roadway onto the median and struck a guardrail.
The car then overturned onto the southbound lanes before coming to final rest.
The car's driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released yet.
Debris from the Pontiac struck the windshield of a second vehicle traveling southbound.
The driver and the passenger in the second vehicle was not injured.
