Patricia Barbour walked down to the canal in her backyard early Wednesday morning like she would on any other day of the week. On that day, she found five dead birds floating in her backyard. She told Fox 4 that wasn't the worst part.
"I came down to the sea wall and there were 5 birds all decapitated. Their bodies were still intact and they were floating along the sea wall", she says.
After finding the birds, Barbour called the Cape Coral Police Department. When they came to her house, she says they gave her some unsettling news.
"They sent an officer to investigate. The officer said they'd seen this before and that it's voodoo."
Barbour told Four in Your Corner that she'd only ever seen things like this in movies. There's still one bird left floating in the canal near her house. It's a real reminder of the nightmarish surprise she found in her backyard.
"My mind just went blank", she told Fox 4. "It was more of just a feeling of 'Oh my God! I can't believe this is here."
Until she learns more about why the birds wound up in her backyard, Barbour says she's feeling on edge for herself and her family.
